TINA - The Tina Turner Musical Baltimore reviews
EXCELLENT
I was worried about paying the high price for the ticket. I kept thinking to myself, I will hope this play is worth what I paid to see it. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate to pay the same price again, plus more. This was a well put together, extremely good, and exciting play. Every single vocal performance from all the cast was outstanding!!! The young lady that played Tina was just EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. What more can be said. A TRULY EXCELLENT JOB BY THE ENTIRE CAST!!!!
Second time around
I originally saw "Tina" in London 3 years ago in a much smaller theatre with a different cast and I LOVED it. I forget the actress' name, but I believe she transferred with the show to NYC. I found this production, even sitting in almost the last row (MM) incredibly loud, even with ear plugs, and both I and my friend missed large chunks of the dialog with the heavy southern accent, also probably because of the excessive volume. So while I enjoyed the experience, I think this theatre is way too large or the volume was amped up too much. The actors were excellent, and Tina was excellent even though, to me, her voice was usually in a different octave. Obviously I am more critical because I have seen the play, but my two friends both enjoyed it hugely.
The show was awesome the venue is suffering
Tina, the show was fantastic; I am glad I saw it! The stars and the music were terrific. However, the venue suffers from too many competing events simultaneously in the park and downtown. I arrived an hour early; for a matinee show; the traffic was outrageous, no traffic police to assist in directing traffic because of the many competing events. No alerts to tell me about this situation as they did when Hamilton was here. The valet was full; the parking garage was filled once I finally got there. Finally, we got to see the show twenty minutes after it started, and someone else was sitting in our seats. The ushers were friendly in finding alternative seating. Still, the City of Ft. Lauderdale and the Performing Art Center could better plan events simultaneously.
